Dr. James Musinguzi, the Executive Director of the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), has asked suppliers to maintain integrity, quality and professionalism, stressing that stronger partnerships are essential to improving service delivery and supporting wildlife conservation.
Musinguzi made the call on September 11th, 2026, during the UWA Supplier Forum 2026 at Protea Hotel, held under the theme “Sustainable Procurement for Wildlife Conservation.”
He said UWA expects suppliers to demonstrate honesty and fairness while delivering goods and services that meet agreed standards.
“We expect integrity, quality, honesty, fair competition, and professionalism. Through openness and dialogue, we can address inefficiencies and strengthen partnerships for better service delivery,” Musinguzi said.
The forum comes as UWA continues to strengthen partnerships and procurement systems to support conservation. The authority is mandated to conserve and sustainably manage Uganda’s wildlife and protected areas.
Musinguzi called upon stakeholders to invest in the national parks in response to their concerns.
“Uganda belongs to all of us. We have heard your concerns and are committed to addressing them. I invite you to invest in our parks and explore available concessions.” Musinguzi added.
Ag. Commissioner for Tourism and Business Development Dorcus Rukundo urged suppliers to visit national parks to understand UWA’s conservation work and contribute by paying park entry fees.
She warned that substandard supplies can cause delays, increase costs and compromise UWA operations, potentially undermining efforts to protect wildlife for future generations.
Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Authority (PPDA) Executive Director, Canon Benson Turamye urged suppliers to prioritise quality, local content and value for money.
“Public procurement must drive national development,” Turamye said, stressing that the lowest price should not necessarily determine the best value.
He urged government officials to set clear specifications, select competent suppliers and ensure that contractors deliver products and services according to agreed standards.
The forum emphasised the need for responsible and sustainable procurement as part of efforts to strengthen Uganda’s wildlife conservation and tourism sector.
