Uganda Christian University (UCU) has graduated 1,274 students in the first session of its 27th graduation ceremony, with a record of 102 students earning first-class honours, the highest number in the university’s history.
The graduation ceremony, held on Friday, July 3rd, 2026, at the university’s Recreation Ground in Mukono, followed UCU’s traditional commissioning service, where graduands were prayed for and dedicated before receiving their degrees, diplomas and certificates.
This year’s record first-class cohort comprises 60 women and 42 men. The overall best-performing graduate is Don Acheng, who completed a Bachelor of Procurement and Logistics Management with a GPA of 4.91.
Held under the theme “Celebrating Divine Milestones,” the ceremony awarded qualifications ranging from doctoral and master’s degrees to postgraduate diplomas, bachelor’s degrees and diplomas.
Speaking during the ceremony, university leaders said the commissioning service reflects UCU’s mission of producing graduates who combine academic excellence with Christian values, integrity and a commitment to serving society.
The ceremony was presided over by UCU Chancellor His Grace Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, while former Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Most Rev. Henry Luke Orombi, served as the chief guest.
The event marked the first of four graduation ceremonies planned for 2026 under UCU’s revised academic calendar. The multi-session format enables students to graduate sooner after completing their studies instead of waiting for a single annual ceremony.
