Two Arrested as Police Probe Suspected Murder in Kira

Police in Kira Division have launched investigations into a suspected murder following the discovery of a decomposed body believed to be that of 52-year-old Naziwa Oliver, a resident of Kito ‘A’ zone in Kirinya, Kira Municipality.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, the case was reported on April 28, 2026, after relatives raised concern over the woman’s disappearance, which dates back to October 2025.

A joint police operation conducted on May 4 at a suspect’s residence led to the discovery of the body in a locked room. Authorities say clothing found at the scene was identified by relatives as belonging to the deceased.

Two suspects, including a biological relative of the victim, have since been arrested to assist with investigations.

Speaking to the press today the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed the developments, stating:

“The scene was processed, statements recorded, and the body was conveyed to City Mortuary for postmortem examination. Preliminary findings suggest the suspects were operating a cult-like group that discouraged medical treatment and proper burials.”

Police have cautioned the public against engaging in such groups, warning that they pose serious risks to life.

“We strongly warn the public against engaging in or forming illegal cults, as such practices endanger lives and will be dealt with firmly,” he added.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
