With sympathy, legacy politics, and party dominance all colliding in one race, the outcome could carry significance far beyond the shores of Ssese Islands.

Amuriat stated that Nakimuli was not just a member of the NUP party but a daughter of Kalangala, a voice for the voiceless on the 84 islands, and a patriot who carried the hopes of fisherfolk, women, and youth to the floor of Parliament.
