Uganda's celebrations were tempered by disappointment in the boxing ring. Heavyweight boxer Aziz Abdul, the grandson of former Ugandan President Idi Amin, was disqualified during his quarter-final bout against England's Damar Thomas after the referee ruled that he had headbutted his opponent in the third round. The decision immediately ended Uganda's hopes of securing a boxing medal at the Games.
