The State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SH-ACU), in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), has formally charged Isaac Lutwaama Magandaazi, a notorious land fraud suspect, for obtaining money by false pretenses.
The announcement followed a press statement from SH-ACU on Friday, March 27th, 2026, after Lutwaama described by authorities as a “renowned land grabber” linked to multiple fraudulent property transactions in Mityana and Wakiso districts was remanded by the Mityana Chief Magistrate’s Court until April 9th, 2026, following his arraignment.
According to prosecution documents, between March and August 2020, Lutwaama allegedly misrepresented ownership of land located at Block 24, Plot 53 in Nawanga Village, Zigoti Town Council, Mityana District.
“He duped a buyer into paying UGX 37 million for land that he did not own,” SH-ACU stated.
Investigations revealed that the land already had a legitimate owner, and Lutwaama had no legal claim to it, prompting the victim to report the matter to SH-ACU, which launched a detailed investigation that led to his arrest.
Officials confirmed that he admitted to fraudulently obtaining millions of shillings from the complainant.
They also revealed that Lutwaama is connected to several similar cases involving land fraud and illegal property deals across Mityana and Wakiso districts.
SH-ACU has urged members of the public who may have fallen victim to Lutwaama’s schemes or whose land may have been unlawfully taken to report formally to the relevant authorities.
“We encourage all citizens who may have been affected by Lutwaama’s schemes, or whose land has been unlawfully taken, to come forward and report to the relevant authorities. Fraudulent activities like these undermine public trust and property rights,” the SH-ACU statement added.
This case highlights the persistent challenge of land fraud in Uganda and demonstrates the government’s determination to hold high-profile offenders accountable, protecting the property rights and livelihoods of ordinary citizens.
