The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has confirmed that an aircraft crashed in the Kwale region on Tuesday morning, with 12 people on board.

In an official press release on 28th October 2025, the authority stated that the aircraft, with registration number 5Y-CCA, was travelling from Diani to Kichwa Tembo when it went down.

“The aircraft had 12 persons on board. Government agencies are already on site to establish the cause of the accident and its impact,” the statement from Director General Emile N. Arao confirmed.

The crash occurred at 0530Z, which is 8:30 AM local time. The specific location within Kwale and the condition of those on board have not yet been disclosed by authorities.

The KCAA, which is the national regulatory body for aviation safety, has mobilized a team to the site. The investigation will seek to determine the cause of the accident, examining factors such as mechanical failure, weather conditions, and pilot communications.

As a standard procedure in such incidents, the agency has appealed for patience from the public and media, urging them to await official findings.
