The Judiciary of Uganda has launched a major administrative reshuffle, deploying 18 newly appointed judicial officers and transferring 48 others to court stations nationwide to enhance service delivery and access to justice.

The exercise was announced on Saturday, 20th December, 2025, by Chief Justice Hon. Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny Dollo, who described the new postings as an opportunity for innovation and excellence in service.

He urged the judicial officers to make a lasting, positive impact at their new stations and to remain firm in the fight against corruption and abuse of office.

“Our people are thirsty for justice, and we have all it takes to give them quality justice,” Chief Justice Owiny Dollo stated.

According to Acting Chief Registrar HW Lamunu Pamella Ocaya, the newly appointed officers take effect immediately, while the transfers will be implemented from 12th January, 2026.

The reshuffle is aimed at improving court performance, optimizing judicial resources, and ensuring the public has better access to justice.

The deployments include Magistrates Grade One sworn in on 16th December 2025, such as HW Nakabira Brenda, posted to Mukono High Court, and HW Chemutai Ceasor, assigned to the Criminal Division.

Key transfers involve senior officials being moved to specialized divisions to strengthen their capacity.

Notable examples include HW Ronald Kayizzi, relocated from Buganda Road to the Land Division, and HW Nakyazze Racheal, transferred from the Anti-Corruption Division to the Commercial Division.

The reshuffle also affects 48 other registrars and magistrates across multiple districts, including Nakawa, Buganda Road, and the Judicial Training Institute, reflecting a strategic effort to optimize judicial manpower, improve judicial efficiency and bring services closer to the public.

This reassignment demonstrates the Judiciary’s commitment to efficiency, professionalism, and equitable justice delivery, ensuring courts are prepared to meet the country’s growing legal demands, including the anticipated increase in electoral disputes during the 2026 elections.
