According to David Mudong Ongom, the Regional Police Spokesperson for Aswa-Gulu Region, the incident took place on April 12, 2024, at around 3:00 am at the Karuma checkpoint along the Gulu-Kampala highway in Nwoya District.

According to Ongom, the T-Hiance was coming from Kampala, heading to Juba through Gulu.

He added that the cause of the accident was reckless driving by the driver of the T-Hiance.

The bodies of the deceased were taken to Anaka hospital for a postmortem, while the injured were rushed to the RG Health facility within Karuma town council.
