The Special Forces Command (SFC) has flagged off its Alpha and Bravo drill teams ahead of the Second Inter-Forces Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Drill Competition, with the contingent departing for final rehearsals in Bombo before the showdown at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
Flagging off the teams on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026, Maj Gen David Mugisha, the Commander of SFC, challenged the participants to maintain discipline, focus and determination as they prepare to compete against other Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) services and formations.
“Do not relax. Competition is not just about participating; it demands total concentration, discipline and determination,” Maj Gen Mugisha said.
He warned the teams against alcoholism and other forms of misconduct that could affect their physical and mental readiness, emphasizing that discipline remains the foundation of military excellence.
The commander reminded the participants that while the competition is judged on team performance, success depends on every individual’s commitment, self-drive and ability to execute drills in perfect coordination with fellow team members.
Maj Gen Mugisha also urged the teams to uphold high standards of smartness, flexibility, morale and professionalism throughout the competition.
The Inter-Forces CDF Drill Competition, an initiative of the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, is aimed at strengthening military discipline, physical fitness and excellence in parade drills across the UPDF.
SFC enters this year’s competition seeking to build on its strong performance in the inaugural edition, where it won two trophies and emerged the best in the Mastery (Showmanship) Drill category. The Internal Security Organisation (ISO) claimed the overall title.
This year’s competition will feature Sword Drill, Cane Stick Drill, Crop Stick Drill, Foot Drill, Pace Stick Drill and Mastery (Showmanship) Drill.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by the SFC Chief of Staff, Brig Gen Paul Namawa; Deputy Commander 1 Special Forces Group, Col Dismas Kamuza; brigade commanders, directors, senior and junior officers, and non-commissioned officers.
