Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Visit Uganda for Two Days

The Iranian President, Sayyid Ebrahim Raisolsadati, is set to visit Uganda on a two-day visit starting Wednesday, July 12th 2023.

The main aim of the visit is to strengthen cooperation and trade between the two sister countries.

In a press statement released on Monday, July 10th, by Faruk Kirunda, the deputy presidential press secretary, the visit will start on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, and conclude on Thursday, July 13, 2023.

Kirunda said that on the first day, the two leaders will hold a bilateral talk at State House Entebbe.

“On the first day, the two leaders will hold bilateral talks at State House Entebbe and address the media at 11 a.m. The address will be relayed live on television”, reads part of the statement.

He further stated that the two heads of state will address a business forum at Al-Mustaafa University, Kyengera, in the afternoon.

Since the beginning of his presidency, Raisolsadati has called for increased cooperation with Africa and recognized its material and manpower capabilities.

In July 2022, President Museveni welcomed the partnership with the government of Iran to support Uganda, especially in the health sector, and promised to work with them. He met with Dr. Mahdi Safari, the deputy foreign Minister in charge of Economic Diplomacy in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
