The police have issued a strong warning to con artists exploiting social media platforms and forging official documents to deceive job seekers during the ongoing recruitment exercise.
The warning comes after one suspect, identified as Amwine Mike, was arrested for posing as the District Police Commander (DPC) of Kyotera and attempting to scam applicants by promising non-existent jobs.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Kituuma, speaking at a security briefing held at Naguru Police Headquarters on October 27, 2025, cautioned the public against falling victim to these fraudsters. He emphasized that anyone attempting to pay for a job would face arrest.
“Don’t fall for these scams. Only deal with officers listed in the official recruitment documents, and do not use middlemen,” ACP Kituuma warned.
Kituuma clarified that the police force had already released a verified list of authorized officers and offices through which applications should be submitted.
He added that applicants must engage directly with the listed authorities, as intermediaries often facilitate these fraudulent schemes.
“The scammers often use the guise of election-related recruitment to take advantage of the heightened demand for jobs, impersonating senior officers to defraud vulnerable job seekers,” Kituuma noted.
The police also reminded the public that genuine recruitment for election-related policing roles will be strictly merit-based and aligned with national public service regulations.
With the election season approaching, the police remain vigilant not only for electoral threats but also for fraudsters preying on public desperation for work.
Regular updates and advisories will be issued to help safeguard job seekers from falling victim to these scams.
