President Samia Hassan Suluhu of Tanzania has dissolved the Ministry of Finance and Planning, and the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, then formed new dockets out of them on Thursday, July 6, 2023.
According to the Citizen, the Ministry of Finance and Planning is currently known as the Ministry of Finance, with the Planning mandate split to form a new separate ministry known as the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
With the changes, President Suluhu appointed Mwigulu Nchemba as Tanzania’s Finance Minister and Prof. Kitila Mkumbo as the Minister of Planning and Investment.
The changes also mean that what was previously called the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade will now be known as the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with the Investment docket falling under the new Ministry of Planning and Investment.
This is the sixth cabinet reshuffle made by President Suluhu since she took office in March 2021.
