The Supreme Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Muhammad Shaban Galabuzi, has urged Muslims across the country to actively engage in the upcoming 2026 general elections.
Speaking during Eid-Al-Adha prayers at Kibuli Mosque in Kampala, the Mufti emphasized the importance of civic duty and called on believers to vote at all levels from village councils to national leadership.
“It is very important for everyone to vote for what he or she wants, for the good of their community. I encourage all Muslims to make informed choices with confidence,“ Mufti said.
He reminded the faithful that their vote is a powerful tool to influence leadership and policy decisions that affect daily life, including education, healthcare, and community development.
The Mufti’s message comes at a time when Uganda is preparing for a crucial election season. His appeal aims to inspire more Muslims, especially the youth, to register, stay informed, and take part in building a better future through democratic participation.
