The Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) for Lira City, Karimu Mwase, was on Monday morning found dead in a trench at Nakalama Sub-county, Iganga District, along the Bugiri Highway.

Local authorities and security agencies rushed to the scene following the discovery of Mwase’s lifeless body.

However, the cause of his death remains unknown at this time, prompting an urgent investigation by police and relevant agencies.

The body has been transported to Iganga General Referral Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death.

Police have urged the public to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation.
