The NUP party president, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, has said that police blocking his processions from accessing main city centers has been a blessing in disguise since they were able to see the lifestyle and suffering of people living in rural areas, far from towns.

Kyagulanyi made these remarks while addressing the media in Kumi district on November 8, 2024, on the way to Abim district for day two of the nationwide tour.

“By police and security forces blocking all the routes to major towns and cities and diverting us to pass miles away from the town centers, it has helped us reach our supporters away from the towns and has also shown us that we have supporters away from the towns,” Kyagulanyi said.

Kyagulanyi also said that the diversion has been a very big blessing in disguise because they have seen what’s happening away from the main city centers.

“We have been able to see the real life of people in the villages, and even when it has been a long journey, we are happy that we have seen the suffering and lifestyle of fellow Ugandans in the countryside,” Kyagulanyi added.
