Uganda is set to keep their place at the top of Group K as they take on South Sudan at Mandela National Stadium, commonly known as Namboole, under floodlights on Friday, September 11, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.

The Cranes are coming into this game with an unbeaten run with four points clear after a draw with South Africa and a win over Congo in September 2024.

The Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put expressed his hope in the 27-man squad for the October fixtures and believes that the newly summoned players will bring great impact on the pitch.

“I am optimistic about the squad and greatly believe that the newly summoned players will be in position to bring on the pitch great contribution,’’ Put said.

The squad includes Gavin Kizito, Derrick Nsibambi, and Taddeo Lwanga, who are back into the squad after a long time; Shafik Kwikiriza, the KCCA attacker, and Calvin Kabuye are some of the faces that are making their debuts.

Elvis Bwomono, the right back, Joseph Ochaya, the left back, and Muhammad Shaban, the striker, were left out of the squad.

South Sudan Head Coach Nichola Dupuis summoned a 26-man squad for the upcoming October fixtures, sticking to most of the players that featured in the September international break.

The visitor’s target is to get their first points of the campaign after losing the last 2 games in the competition to Brazzaville 1-0 and 3-2 to South Africa in a highly contested game.

The cranes come into this game as favorites having played 6 games, with Uganda topping with 4 wins, 1 loss, and 1 draw against South Sudan in their head to-head.
