Key Manchester United stars have been hit by injuries just a few weeks before the 2024–2025 Premier League season begins.
The recent additions to the injury list are Marcus Rashford and Antony Santos.
Rashford limped off the field with an ankle injury in their 3-2 friendly match win against Real Betis on August 1, 2024, where he had already scored a penalty at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, U.S.A.
Leny Yoro, who limped off the Arsenal game just after 35 minutes into the game, is expected to be out for three months, and Rasmus Hojlund is also set to miss around six weeks.
Other key United players that have sustained injuries include Casamiro, Luke Show, Harry Maguire, and Tyrell Malacia.
While addressing the media, Ten Hag hesitated commenting on how long the Rashford injury could be but hoped it wasn’t that serious.
“We are yet to hear from the doctors, but we all hope that it’s not that serious,” Ten Hag said.
Ten Hag still believes there is a need to add more players to the squad if the team is to compete fairly in the coming season, with some of his key players already injured.
“I want the squad to be as strong as possible. We already made two very good buys, so when everyone is fit, we have a team that can beat everyone. But also in squad depth, we have to catch up,” Ten Hag added.
Manchester United will play Liverpool in their last friendly game on Sunday, July 4, 2024, in South Carolina, USA, before starting off the English Premier League with a community shield game against Manchester City at Wembly Stadium on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
