The Member of Parliament for Kira Municipality, Semmujju Nganda, has come out to support the march to parliament protests slated to take place on July 23, 2024, but advised them to march to wherever President Museveni is instead of parliament.
During the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Katonga faction press conference on July 22, 2024, at the party headquarters in Nakasero, Katonga Road, the party spokesperson, Semmujju Nganda, noted that youth should understand why they are marching, saying that they should uproot the major cause of their marching.
“When the banana wealt disease came here, we were told by the experts that if you want to fight it, you remove the whole stem of the banana plantation because if you only cut the yellow leaf, the disease will stay. Therefore, I advise the youth to march wherever Museveni is because he is the real disease,” he said.
Semmujju added that President Museveni is not fighting corruption; rather, he and his family are enabling the corruption, which is costing Ugandans a lot of their money.
“If you read through our budget, you’ll notice that we pay Congo every year as compensation for the gold and timber that was stolen by Museveni and his brothers Salim Saleh and Ssemakula. This year we paid Ugx 241 billion to Congo, and all this money is taxpayers’ money who didn’t even benefit from the looted goods,” he added.
This comes after several complaints of corruption scandals being exposed in parliament and other government parastatals that have led to a planned march to parliament on July 23, 2024, in protest against corruption.
