“From the bail application, applicant 1 Muwanga Kivumbi and 16 others have been granted bail Kivumbi has to pay a cash bail of 10 million Ugx and the 16 co-accused cash bail of 1 million Ugx, the other 6 applicants have been denied bail due to issues with their sureties” Hatanga said.

Kivumbi, the former Butambala County MP, and his co-accused are facing terrorism-related charges stemming from arrests made between January 2nd and 14th, 2026, in Butambala district. Their arrest followed a security operation at Kivumbi’s home during which more than seven people were reportedly shot dead.
