President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has launched his re-election campaign with a pledge to deepen government support for wealth creation and intensify the fight against corruption in the next term.

Speaking to a mammoth crowd at Bukalasa Agricultural College playgrounds in Luwero, Museveni urged Ugandans to take advantage of the prevailing peace and government programmes to transform their livelihoods.

“We are going to allocate more funds to push every Ugandan into the money economy. The opportunities are there peace, infrastructure, and government initiatives. What is needed now is for people to make use of them,” Museveni said.

The president also urged citizens to closely monitor the implementation of key government programmes such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), which he described as critical to eradicating poverty at the grassroots.

He assured Ugandans that the economy will continue on a steady growth path, supported by a stable business environment and strategic government interventions.

Museveni also issued a stern warning to civil servants who extort money from citizens, saying such officials will face the full force of the law.

As part of his campaign trail, the president is expected to head to the Lango Sub-region, with scheduled rallies in Amolatar, Dokolo, Otuke, Alebtong, Kwania, Apac, Lira, and Kole, among others.
