Police in Wakiso district are investigating the murder of a 54-year-old man who was shot dead by armed assailants in Kigoogwa Cell, Gombe Division.
Michael Ssempewo was attacked at about 10:45pm on September 14th, 2026, while returning home with his wife after shopping. The attackers reportedly demanded money from the couple, who handed over UGX 500,000.
According to preliminary information, the assailants allegedly demanded more money after receiving the cash. When Ssempewo resisted, one of them shot him in the head while he was seated in the driver’s seat. He died at the scene, while the attackers fled.
The police visited the scene and recovered and documented exhibits. Witness statements have also been recorded, while Ssempewo’s body was taken to the City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the suspects.
