The Uganda Rugby Union (URU) has confirmed that four Ugandan clubs will compete in the revived Enterprise Cup 2026, reigniting one of East Africa’s most historic rugby rivalries between Uganda and Kenya.
The announcement, made on Monday, March 9th , marks Uganda’s return to the regional club tournament after a hiatus and is expected to intensify competition between the two rugby powerhouses.
The Ugandan representatives including Stanbic Black Pirates, Platinum Credit Heathens, KCB KOBS, and Toyota Buffaloes qualified through their performances in the 2025 Uganda Cup. Pirates secured the top spot as champions, followed by Heathens, KOBS, and Buffaloes.
The tournament kicks off on March 21 and will see Ugandan clubs clash with Kenyan giants including KCB Rugby, Kabras Sugar, Menengai Oilers, and Nondescripts RFC.
According to URU President Godwin Kayangwe Arinaitwe, the competition represents a major step in strengthening rugby across the region.
He described the tournament’s revival as a proud moment for Ugandan rugby and a platform that will reconnect fans and clubs through long-standing rivalries.
“This landmark competition breathes new life into a storied legacy, reuniting rugby enthusiasts from Uganda and Kenya in a celebration of shared passion and fierce rivalry,” Arinaitwe said.
The tournament will follow a knockout format beginning with quarter-finals, followed by semi-finals on April 11 and the final scheduled for May 30.
In the opening round, Stanbic Black Pirates will host KCB Rugby in Uganda, while Buffaloes will face a tough away fixture in Kenya. Other matches will see Menengai Oilers host Buffaloes and Nondescripts take on KOBS.
URU believes the competition will also help sharpen the skills of regional players and nurture emerging talent.
Founded in 1997, the Uganda Rugby Union oversees the development and management of rugby in Uganda, including the national team, the Uganda Rugby Cranes, while promoting grassroots participation and inclusivity in the sport.
