The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, has concluded his farewell visit to the Diocese of Kinkiizi with a call for Christians to uphold unity, gratitude and faithful service as the Church continues to shape lives and communities across the country.
Archbishop Kaziimba left for Kampala on June 29th, 2026, after several days of pastoral engagements that brought together clergy, lay leaders, government officials and hundreds of Christians from across the diocese. His visit formed part of his farewell tour, during which he has been reflecting on his ministry while encouraging dioceses to remain steadfast in their Christian calling.
Before departing, the Archbishop was seen off at Kihihi Airfield by the Bishop of Kinkiizi Diocese, Dan Zoreka, accompanied by his hosts Canon Frank Twine and Canon Christine Twine, the Director of Household and Community Transformation Rev. Agaba Andrew, Kanungu District Deputy Resident District Commissioner Gad Rugaju, and other church and government leaders.
Throughout his visit, Archbishop Kaziimba expressed gratitude to God for the remarkable growth of Kinkiizi Diocese, applauding the commitment of clergy, lay leaders and Christians who have worked together to strengthen the Church’s ministry over the years.
He praised the partnership between the Church and local communities, saying it has played a key role in advancing evangelism, education, household transformation and community development.
The Archbishop urged Christians to remain firmly rooted in Christ and to continue serving with humility and integrity. He challenged believers to reject division, embrace forgiveness and love, and work together in unity, saying the future of the Church depends on faithful stewardship and collective responsibility.
His message reflected the central themes that have defined his farewell tour across the country, thanksgiving for God’s faithfulness, unity within the Church, peaceful coexistence, faithful stewardship and hope for the future.
A key highlight of the visit was the induction of new lay leaders, including Eng. Sam Kajojo as Head of Laity for Kinkiizi Diocese. Archbishop Kaziimba encouraged the new leaders to serve selflessly and support the Church’s mission of spreading the Gospel while addressing the social and economic needs of communities.
Church and civic leaders used the occasion to pay tribute to the Archbishop for his leadership and contribution to the growth of the Church of Uganda. They commended his commitment to promoting unity, strengthening families and championing community transformation through the Church’s ministry.
Following his departure from Kihihi Airfield, Archbishop Kaziimba was joined on his journey to Kampala by former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development Henry Tumukunde, and Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development Jacqueline Mbabazi.
The visit ended on a note of thanksgiving and renewed commitment, with Christians in Kinkiizi Diocese encouraged to carry forward the Archbishop’s message of faith, unity and service as they continue building a stronger Church and a transformed society.
