Police Arrests Terrorist in possession of Two Explosive Devices in Banda

Police has arrested Collins Mugabe, a resident of Banda over allegations of terrorism, shortly after he was found with bomb-making materials.

According to the Police Spokesperson, SCP Fred Enanga, over the weekend, Mugabe assembled an explosive that went off after he mistakenly tampered with it.

SCP Enanga said this on Monday, July 31, 2023, while addressing the press at Police headquarters in Naguru.

He said that the incident occurred in Banda Zone II, Namalwa Division in Kampala District. However, Police found him in possession of another explosive device.

“The explosion prompted police to cordon off the area and conduct a search before arresting the suspect,” Enanga said.

Enanga confirmed that, the suspect was found in possession of other bomb-making materials which included; Jerrycans of nitric acid, methanol, ethanol, textbooks, among other items.

“We are currently interrogating Mugabe Collins to establish if he is aiding a bigger terror group, so we can take action as soon as possible,” he added.

He assured Ugandans of Police’s commitment to counter and neutralize all forms of terrorism and extremism in the country.
