PFF Resorts to Regional Meetings for Fresh Touch Against Injustices in Uganda

PFF thinks that regional meetings will be a game changer after all other means, such as the collection of a million signatures, did not deliver as expected. However, political analysts have revealed that the new touch of regional meetings is headed to fail because of the weak party structures.

The leadership of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) party, led by the party’s interim Executive Chairman, Bayiga Lulume, has declared regional meetings with the party district chairpersons and grassroots leaders to devise means to hold the government accountable for the ongoing violation of human rights.

According to Bayiga, the party leadership has started by meeting the district chairpersons in Buganda and the Kampala metropolitan area at the party headquarters on Katonga Road in Kampala, from where it will expand to other regions.

While speaking to journalists on Monday, August 3rd, 2026, at the party headquarters on Katonga Road, Lulume appealed to the people to focus on core issues that are suppressing their rights rather than being diverted by the regime loyalists who are allegedly moving around the country, giving out money to people to divert Ugandans from the real issues of human rights violations.

In the efforts to restore the rule of law, opposition parties led by Lulume wrote a request letter to meet the Chief Justice Flavian Zaija, to discuss the deteriorating state of the rule of law in Uganda; however, the Chief Justice has since remained silent, yet violations of human rights continue to dominate the space.

“We wrote to the Chief Justice, requesting to meet him, but he has not responded. We are not going to hurt him, but we want to discuss core issues that are affecting Ugandans,” Lulume said.

He added that Ugandans should refuse to be bystanders in the ongoing persecution of political opponents by the regime, adding that if they can’t do anything about it, at least they should speak about it.

PFF thinks that regional meetings will be a game changer after all other means, such as the collection of a million signatures, did not deliver as expected. However, political analysts have revealed that the new touch of regional meetings is headed to fail because of the weak party structures.

Commenting on Besigye’s health conditions, Lulume revealed that his health is gradually improving, adding that he is now out of the Intensive Care Unit(ICU) at Mulago National Referral Hospital. Besigye was referred to Mulago Hospital from Mbuya Military Hospital after he collapsed in the High Court during the ruling of his famous treason case.
