Security agencies have intensified a crackdown against organized motorcycle theft network operating across Kampala Metropolitan South and neighboring districts, arresting three suspects and recovering stolen motorcycles and spare parts.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police South, an intelligence-led operation conducted on March 2nd, 2026, in Kigwanya Cell, Nabbingo Parish, Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District, targeted a suspect linked to a robbery in Arua District.

The prime suspect, Kabogoza Kefa alias Kivumbi, 22, a mechanic and resident of Kigwanya Cell, is accused of stealing a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (UFU 119N) on February 27 from a victim in Saziro Village in Arua district. Police alleged he transported the motorcycle to Nsangi, where it was reportedly taken to a garage for alteration.

Investigators say the motorcycle was delivered to Younger’s Garage in Buwali Village near Emma Oil Petrol Station with plans to tamper with its engine and registration details to conceal its identity.

A joint team from Nabbingo Police Station raided the garage and recovered the red Bajaj Boxer, a blue Spiro motorcycle (UMA 399DF), number plate UEU 629L, and assorted motorcycle parts, including an exhaust pipe and seat cushion. The discovery of multiple exhibits has raised suspicions of a broader racket dismantling and rebranding stolen motorcycles for resale.

Police arrested three individuals including Kabogoza Kefa, Bbagala Shafik alias Younger, the proprietor of the garage and Aryatuha Samson, a parking attendant.

Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy PRO ASP Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with forensic examinations underway and efforts to trace additional accomplices and the rightful owners of the recovered property.

The suspects remain in custody as police widen inquiries into what they describe as an organised criminal network.
