Hajjat Kulthum Nabunya also known as Dr Hajjat Kulthum Muzaata, has officially announced the end of her four-year marriage journey to Munyankole lover, Acram Gumisiriza.

In a statement posted on her official Facebook page on June 16, 2025, she addressed her Muslim community, religious and cultural leaders, family, friends, and Ugandans at large with warm Islamic greetings, noting the immense difficulty of making such a public disclosure.

Kulthum recounted meeting Gumisiriza in 2021, following the loss of her late husband, and entering into marriage with him in 2022 with hopes of finding companionship and stability.

However, she noticed concerning signs early on, which she described as “red flags.” Despite her efforts to mend the relationship, the emotional gap between them widened, leading her to conclude that continuing the marriage would only deepen their mutual pain.

In her statement, Kulthum emphasized that the decision was not about pointing fingers but about recognizing that the partnership no longer served either of them.

“This is not about blame. It’s about acknowledging that we are no longer good for each other in the way that a partnership should be,” Kulthum said.

She expressed her commitment to a respectful and fair separation, ensuring that any legal or shared responsibilities would be handled with maturity.

The divorce proceedings, she noted, would be overseen by Sheikh Abdul Rahaman Serunjoji and her family.

Kulthum decision came after extensive prayer and reflection, trusting in divine guidance and mercy to lead her through this transition.
