Uganda has made a significant first appearance at the South Asia Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE 2025), marking a new chapter in the country’s efforts to strengthen its presence in South Asia’s travel market.

This historic participation, which started from February 19-21, 2025, at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi, led by the Embassy of Uganda in India and Uganda Airlines, is a testament to the growing collaboration between Uganda and South Asia, particularly India, as a key source market for tourism.

Grace Akello, Ambassador of Uganda in India, said Uganda’s participation at SATTE 2025 underscores our commitment to strengthening tourism ties between Uganda and South Asia, particularly India, which is a key source market for us.

Uganda’s participation at SATTE 2025 comes on the heels of its recent achievement at the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) in Mumbai, where it was awarded the Best Promising New Destination.

This award has generated even more interest in Uganda as a must-visit destination for Indian travelers, who are increasingly seeking new and exotic locations for their holidays.

At SATTE 2025, Uganda showcased its rich cultural heritage, wildlife, and tourism potential through a strong representation of key players in the sector.

Officials in the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), and tour operators were present at the exhibition, highlighting Uganda’s diverse offerings, from thrilling safaris and pristine landscapes to its welcoming hospitality and unique cultural experiences.

“We are excited to showcase Uganda’s diverse cultural heritage, incredible wildlife, and breathtaking landscapes to the South Asian market. Uganda is not just a destination; it’s an experience waiting to be discovered,” the officials said.

They added that the launch of direct flights between Entebbe and Mumbai acts as an open door to endless opportunities for tourism and cultural exchange between Uganda and India.

“Our future expansion to New Delhi will further solidify this growing relationship,” they said.

As Uganda continues to build on its successes and strengthen its ties with South Asia, the country’s tourism sector is poised for remarkable growth.

The future looks bright as the country leverages its natural beauty, cultural richness, and strategic partnerships to attract more visitors from South Asia.
