Prime Minister Robina Nabbanja has said that Uganda has been selected to host the 11th Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD) scheduled for April 9-11, 2025, at Speke Resort Munyonyo.

The event, held under the theme Driving job creation and economic growth through sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063, acts as an annual intergovernmental platform that brings together policymakers, development experts, and leaders to advance Africa’s sustainable development agenda.

In a statement, Nabbanja re-echoed the purpose of the forum in monitoring progress and fostering collaboration in implementing both the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

“The two agendas provide a strategic framework for inclusive and people-centered growth in Africa,” Nabbanja said.

President Museveni reaffirmed the declaration after meeting a delegation led by Claver Gatete, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

“I am pleased that Uganda has been chosen to host this summit, and I look forward to meaningful dialogue with African technical experts and political leaders,” Museveni stated.

The forum is expected to attract over 1,500 participants, including heads of state, former heads of state, ministers, policymakers, civil society representatives, private sector leaders, and experts from across Africa and beyond.

This year’s forum will also contribute Africa’s input to the Second World Summit on Social Development, ensuring the continent’s priorities are reflected in global discussions on sustainable and inclusive growth.

With Uganda hosting this crucial event, the country is set to play a leading role in shaping the future of Africa’s sustainable development agenda, driving actionable solutions for economic growth and job creation across the continent.
