Police have arrested two security guards in connection with the fatal shooting of 28-year-old Sekajugo Sharif outside Twins’ Mall Ttula Bar in Kawempe on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

During a security media briefing at the police headquarters in Naguru on Monday, February 3, 2025, Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson revealed that two firearms had been recovered from the scene: one with a single and another two rounds of ammunition.

According to Owoyesigire, the suspects, identified as Akampurira Alex, the alleged shooter, and Nuwahereza Clever, were both employees of Promax Security Company.

Sekajugo, a chef who had been working in Qatar, was attending a farewell party when a fight broke out inside the bar. Dissatisfied with how security handled the situation, he reportedly confronted them.

“As he walked out to engage the security team further, he got into an altercation with one of the guards and reportedly pushed him. As he was walking away, the security guard opened fire and shot him in the back. Sekajugo bled out and died,” Owoyesigyire said.

The deceased’s body was taken to the city mortuary in Mulago for a postmortem.

Police said that further investigations were still ongoing into the cause of this murder.

Owoyesigire stated that the suspected shooter will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete, with witness statements already recorded as part of the ongoing probe.
