Residents of Bugolobi, Muntungo, Kitintale, and Luzira in Nakawa division, Kampala city suburbs, have expressed frustrations due to the impassable roads due to delayed construction works of the Nakawa-Bugolobi-Luzira road.

The irritated residents complained that the approximately 7 km road is riddled with potholes, turns muddy on rainy days, collects dust, and has a very poor drainage system as a result of the slow work of the contractors.

According to the recent meeting with the contractors, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbajja warned the contractors and tasked them to be human enough and adhere to the contract agreement as they promised the government that they have the capacity to execute the contract both mechanically and financially.

“I am warning road contractors in Kampala that the government will not hesitate to terminate their contracts if they fail to deliver according to the contract agreements,” Nabbanja said.

In explaining the ongoing crisis, Johnmary Mugisha, a resident of Bugolobi operating a whole sale shop in Luzira, expressed his disappointment with the contractor, wondering how a Chinese company could spend over two years constructing a mere 7 km road.

Mugisha further explained to our reporter that due to the delayed road construction, it has affected his business daily sales, yet rent and other operating expenses of the business are constant.
