“Museveni has been speaking about democracy, but where is that democracy he speaks of if he can't tolerate those who criticise his government? What is happening in villages undermines the same democracy he talks about,” Ssenyonyi said.
The competition aims to encourage every Ugandan to confidently sing the National Anthem while promoting the use of Kiswahili and increasing appreciation of the East African Community anthem as Uganda advances regional integration.
"Very many people have been arraigned in court on corruption charges but all these are pawns and just being used to be sacrificed. The main people to be charged and sent behind bars are Anita Annet Among, the former speaker and the Hon. Adolf Mwesige, the clerk to parliament who also happens to be the accounting officer at parliament and no single coin can be released without his knowledge. These two are the main culprits and we will all be happy if charged in court and then remanded for the massive corruption we have seen at parliament,” Olanya said.
"The magistrate has informed us that her ruling is not ready. She has taken note of all the health concerns we raised. She also said she was concerned about the large crowd in court and did not wish to reconvene everyone simply to announce that the ruling was not ready. She further indicated that she intends to write a more detailed ruling on the matter," Sseggona said.
