Police in Entebbe have started investigating the circumstances under which a woman was killed and her body dumped near an Anglican church in Nkumba parish, Entebbe.

The incident happened in Kitinda village in Nkumba parish, Katabi town council in Entebbe, Wakiso district.

The woman’s body was discovered on May 26, 2024, at around 8:00 p.m., but her identity is still unknown. However, she is estimated to be around 25–30 years of age.

According to the residents of Kitinda village, the deceased was discovered by a worker at a house close to All Saints Church in Kitinda.

The residents further mentioned that the deceased was discovered in a sack with her hands and legs tied in a knot.

‘’When we got to know about the unidentified person found dead in our village, we alerted our local council leaders because we did not know her, and she did not have anything identifying her either,’’ the residents said.

While being interviewed by journalists on May 28, 2024, Galera Musoke, the Local Council I Women Affairs Secretary of Kitinda village, said that the deceased was killed in another place and afterwards dumped near All Saints Church Kitinda just to kill evidence because there was no blood where her body was dumped.

Musoke added that the deceased might have been taken from a rental house or someone’s home because she was dressed in a half petticoat and wrapped in a lesu, which further indicates that she was not a prostitute.

“I believe the deceased was killed somewhere else and dumped in Kitinda because there were no struggle marks or blood where her corpse was dumped, but her hands and legs were tightly tied together in a painful knot,’’ Musoke noted.

Musoke further said that it is so sad and unfortunate that, despite numerous arrests, murderous crimes of this sort continue to occur in Entebbe, citing the recent one where a taxi driver identified as Isaac Niwagaba, working on Entebbe Road, was apprehended from his hiding place at Rwakimuli cell, Bukinda sub-county, in Rukiga district, for the murders of various women in Entebbe.

She called upon women and youth to be cautious of men who court them and advised them to avoid going out to meet up with anyone without letting any of their relatives or friends know about it.

The police are yet to release a statement after thorough investigations have been completed.
