The Uganda Cricket Cranes have qualified for the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup, scheduled for June 4–30, 2024.
Uganda has reached the Men’s T20 World Cup for the first time with a dominant nine-wicket victory over Rwanda on Thursday November 30, 2023, securing the 20th and final spot at the 2024 edition.
Uganda’s win in the six games at the Africa Qualifier clinched second place on the table behind already-qualified Namibia. Additionally, Uganda’s triumph over Zimbabwe earlier in the competition paved way for the Cricket Cranes.
In the qualifiers, Uganda overcame Tanzania in its opening game by a comfortable margin of eight wickets. However, in the next game, Uganda lost to Namibia by six wickets. In the third game, the Ugandan team socked the Zimbabwean team.
The other countries that qualified were: India, Australia, England, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Ireland, the West Indies, the USA, the Netherlands, Scotland, PNG, Canada, Nepal, and Oman.
Cricket Cranes, led by Riazat Ali Shah (42) and Alpesh Ramjani (40), is one of two African teams that qualified for the games, after the Namibian national team.
