Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi and 24 co-accused returned to court as the International Crimes Division continued hearing their bail application in a terrorism case arising from the deadly post-election violence that rocked Butambala District in January 2026.
A total of 79 ministers took the oath of office before President Museveni at State House Entebbe as Uganda’s new Cabinet officially assumed office. Four appointees missed the ceremony due to citizenship concerns, while Janet Museveni was absent.
“I don't want to hear that there is poverty in homesteads that have land and yet money is there at the parish level. If you are a minister and I come to your village and people are still suffering, I will sack you. I want to inform everybody that I have been monitoring and I don't want to embarrass mature people. The money is there on the ground; let's use it to get our people out of poverty,” Museveni said.
"I believe those who are elected into those top government positions should be of good ethics and integrity and be people who understand family values and are responsible for the actions they take. I have a big passion for Uganda, which is why I wanted to start the East African European Convention to bring together all East Africans living in the diaspora. Still, unfortunately, it did not materialize," Kayanja said.
“The fight against corruption involves serious individuals like you. If we don’t fight it, we shall destroy ourselves, and the destruction will start here within the UPDF before it affects the country and the region.”
The two-day conference taking place from November 7-8, 2024, themed Rebuilding Trust in Media in Times of AI, is meant to dialogue about public accountability, elections, AI, citizens' voices, and women in media.
The EAC is aimed at widening and deepening cooperation among the partner states in, among others, political, economic, and social fields for their mutual benefit.
