Kampala Metropolitan Police has intensified its crackdown on criminal activity, arresting dozens of suspects in coordinated operations across multiple divisions as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and improve public safety.
The operations, conducted in Kabalagala, Kira, Old Kampala, and Wandegeya policing areas, targeted identified crime hotspots and black spots associated with robberies, narcotics, and possession of suspected stolen property.
In Kira Division, police arrested eleven suspects during an operation in Kyaliwajjala Zone, Namugongo. Officers recovered a number of exhibits, including suspected stolen household items, narcotic substances, knives, and a pick axe, believed to have been used in criminal activities in the area.

Old Kampala Police Division reported the arrest of eight suspects during raids in Nakulabye and Kasubi, areas known for narcotics trade and criminal hideouts. Meanwhile, in Wandegeya, fifteen suspects were apprehended in operations covering Kikoni, Kapapali, and Old Mulago, with police citing suspected involvement in shop break-ins and unlawful gatherings around bars during late hours.
In Kabalagala, additional operations in Bukasa, Nsambya West, and Buyondo Zone led to the arrest of several suspects linked to attacks on motorists and other forms of urban crime. Police confirmed that those arrested have since been charged and are pending court appearance.
Separately, police are investigating a fatal electrocution incident in Kisasizi Zone, Kibuli Parish, where a 36-year-old mason, identified as Olowo Dominic, died after allegedly coming into contact with a clothes-hanging wire that had become electrically charged. His body was conveyed to City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examination as authorities work to establish the source of the electric current.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, said the operations are part of a broader strategy to restore order and deter criminal activity within the city.
“These operations are aimed at curbing criminal activities, dismantling criminal networks, and improving public safety across the metropolitan area,” he said, adding that all suspects are currently undergoing screening, investigations, and legal processing.
Owoyesigyire further emphasized that police will sustain the operations through increased patrols, community policing, and collaboration with local leaders.
“We remain committed to sustained disruptive operations, regular patrols, and working closely with communities to ensure safety and security for all residents,” he noted.
Police say further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
