The Kajara County Member of Parliament (MP), Hunter James Byenjeru Tukahirwa, has donated a total of 20 laptop computers to two secondary schools in Ntungamo district, a bold step taken towards bridging the digital divide in his constituency.
Kagamba Senior Secondary School in Kitondo parish, Ihunga sub-county, was the first beneficiary, receiving 10 laptops in a ceremony witnessed by staff and the entire school community. Bwongyera Girls School in Nyamunuka Town Council received an equal number, ensuring that both institutions can now meaningfully participate in ICT-driven learning.
During the handover held on June 23rd, 2026, Headteacher Leo Natukunda received the donation on behalf of Kagamba S.S. and expressed deep appreciation, noting that Tukahirwa stands out as a leader who hits the ground running by prioritising the needs of his people even within his first year in Parliament. He described the MP as a rare and purposeful leader, and congratulated the people of Kajara County for making a wise choice at the ballot.
Tukahirwa reaffirmed his commitment to transforming education in the constituency, pledging to continue lobbying for improved ICT infrastructure both locally and at the national level. His broader plan envisions equipping every secondary school in Kajara County with 10 laptops each, a constituency-wide digital transformation agenda that places students at the centre of Uganda’s growing knowledge economy.
This initiative reflects a growing recognition among Uganda’s legislators that quality ICT education is not a luxury but a foundation for national development and youth empowerment.
