Kenya’s Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua, has rubbished claims of any political catastrophe in the country, assuring the nation that the government is in full control.
Rigathi highlighted that the Azimio La Umoja protests, which he described as being unconstitutional, were put on hold as a result of the government measures that led to the suspension of protests that were originally scheduled for tomorrow.
The Deputy President advised the coalition’s leader, Raila Odinga, to concentrate on his role as the head of the opposition, noting that Kenyans had already made up their minds during the election last year, which the Supreme Court of Kenya had upheld.
“Focus on your responsibility as the leader of the opposition; the people of Kenya made their decision during the elections on August 9th, and the Supreme Court of Kenya sustained that decision,” said Gachagua.
On Monday, the Azimio Coalition broadcast that the planned demonstrations would not take place but urged supporters to hold solidarity parades.
