Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Secretary General and Kasambya County Member of Parliament, Hon. Daudi Kabanda, has announced a planned demonstration by members of the pressure group at the Turkish Embassy, directing all appointed leaders to attend or risk being treated as having resigned from their positions.

Kabanda made the announcement through a statement posted on his official X account, where he revealed that members of the Central Committee (CC) are expected to lead the protest, with only the PLU Chairman and Director of Legal Affairs exempted from participation.

“Directive to all PLU Members: A demonstration will be held at the Turkish Embassy. CC members are expected to lead this demonstration, only the Chairman and Director legal affairs are excused from participating. All appointed leaders MUST be present. Failure to attend will be treated as resignation,” Kabanda posted on X (@DaudiKabanda).

While Kabanda did not disclose the specific reasons behind the planned protest, the development has already sparked political debate and speculation over what could have triggered the latest mobilization by the Muhoozi-backed movement.

The announcement comes against the backdrop of previous PLU-led demonstrations targeting individuals, institutions and diplomatic entities accused by supporters of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba of disrespect, misinformation or hostile political interests. In previous incidents early last year in February  PLU supporters marched to Parliament and staged demonstrations outside embassies over what they described as unfair international and local attacks against the Chief of Defence Forces.

Political observers say the latest directive signals PLU’s continued strategy of projecting political visibility and internal discipline as the movement increasingly expands its structures and grassroots influence across the country.

Founded around the political and ideological support of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Patriotic League of Uganda has in recent years evolved from a loose mobilization platform into an organized political pressure group with growing influence among sections of the youth and ruling National Resistance Movement supporters. The movement has frequently positioned itself as a defender of nationalism, sovereignty and Muhoozi’s political vision, often taking strong public stances on regional and international matters.
