Security agencies have arrested a key suspect in connection with the recent attack on a Kawafu resident an intelligence-led joint operation in Abaita Ababiri.

The suspect, identified as Nabete Grace, also known as FBI and Escobar, was apprehended in the early hours of February 17th, 2026, during a coordinated security raid.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, the operation followed credible information gathered after an attack that occurred on the night of 12th February 2026.

“Security agencies conducted a joint operation in Abaita Ababiri that led to the arrest of Nabete Grace aka FBI/Escobar in connection with the recent attack on Batabane Richard, a resident of Kawafu,” Owoyesigyire said.

Preliminary reports indicate that the victim, Batabane Richard, was attacked at his home in Kawafu under circumstances that prompted an immediate investigation.

“Acting on credible information, security agencies mounted a coordinated operation in the early hours of 17th February 2026, resulting in the arrest of the suspect,” Owoyesigyire said.

“The operation was carefully planned and executed as part of efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating within the area,” Owoyesigyire added.

The suspect is currently in custody and is assisting detectives with ongoing investigations.

Police reassured residents of their continued vigilance and commitment to public safety.

“We reassure the public of our continued commitment to ensuring safety and bringing perpetrators of crime to justice,” he said.

Investigations into the attack remain active as police intensify the search for additional suspects believed to have been involved.
