
As day two of the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) continues, Police in the Greater Masaka Region has arrested an alarming number of teachers and Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) officials in different schools caught engaging in various forms of examination malpractice.
According to Twaha Kasirye, the Regional Spokesperson Greater Masaka, the teachers were caught red-handed writing answers for candidates and coaching them on how to approach SST questions. Evidence was obtained at the scene to support the case.
In Masaka district, eight teachers were arrested for examination malpractice at St. Kizito Butenzi Primary School. The suspects, include Ngobya Jackson, Kavuma Ashiraf, Juuko Misaaki, Kyusa Ronald, Mubiru Isma, Ssempijja Michael, Turyasingura Adam, and Waiswa Sharif.

In Rakai district, a one Noah Katende was arrested at St Raphael Mbuye Primary School for falsely presenting himself as a UNEB scout when he was not officially recognized as one.
In Masaka City (Kimanya–Kabonera Division), Robert Asiimwe, attempted to bribe a UNEB monitor in an effort to influence the examination process, all in vain. Asiimwe is currently on the run.
In Kyotera District, police arrested six UNEB officials; Mulindwa Sulait (invigilator), Nansango Sylvia (invigilator), Nasamula Annet (chief invigilator), Ssekitoleko Gonzaga (invigilator), Nakityo Harriet (invigilator), and Lubega John (scout) for examination malpractice.
According to authorities, the arrests followed the discovery of a candidate in possession of a small paper containing Social Studies examination answers during an abrupt inspection.
“All suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue,” they said.
Police cautioned all stakeholders to desist from any acts that compromise the credibility of the examination process.
