Uganda Police has confirmed that Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Clive Nsiima is appearing before court to face criminal charges following an assault incident that recently went viral on social media.

During a press briefing at the Police headquarters in Naguru on 13th October, 2025, Police Spokesperson Rusoke Kituma said the Force took immediate action upon receiving information about the incident.

“Clive was arrested and detained in police cells where he was subjected to disciplinary action. He appeared before police on Tuesday and on Friday last week,” Kituuma said.

He further revealed that the accused officer will be charged at the Kampala City Council Council (KCCA) Court.

“By close of business today he will have appeared before court to answer to the criminal charges,” stated Kituuma.

The Police condemned the officer’s actions, describing them as unacceptable and contrary to the Police disciplinary code.

Kituuma said ASP Nsiima is facing both disciplinary and criminal charges arising from the incident.

The assault, which occurred at a Shell Petrol Station in Kyanja, involved ASP Nsiima then serving as the Counter Terrorism/Oil and Gas Police Zonal Commander for the Kampala Metropolitan Area physically attacking a female fuel station attendant identified only as Atuhumurize.

A video that circulated widely on social media showed Nsiima angrily confronting the attendant over an alleged unpaid fuel bill of Shs 30,000. The CCTV footage captured him striking her twice across the face while shouting insults.

The authorities have since distanced itself from the officer’s conduct, emphasizing that such behaviour violates the values and ethics expected of law enforcement personnel.

Although Rusoke had not yet received the formal outcome of the internal court’s decision, he said the officer was given a full chance to be listened to.

The Uganda Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to accountability and professionalism within its ranks, emphasizing that no officer is above the law
