Liverpool took a major step toward the Premier League title with a 2-0 win over Manchester City, opening an 11-point lead at the top.

Arsenal, in second, suffered a 1-0 home defeat to West Ham earlier on, Saturday, ending their 15-match unbeaten run.

Mohamed Salah starred again, scoring his 30th goal of the season before assisting Dominik Szoboszlai. Salah is now the only player in Premier League history to contribute 40+ goals in multiple seasons (2017-18 and 2024-25).

City, now 20 points behind Liverpool, have lost eight games this season, just one short of their worst under Pep Guardiola (nine in 2019-20). With 12 games left, they face an uphill battle.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot emphasized the need for focus, stating, “We work every day to maintain this level. This result was more about defense than attack.”

City’s Jeremy Doku admitted breaking Liverpool’s deep defense was tough, “They defended well and played on the counter. Some games are like that.”

In the other match played on Sunday, Newcastle edged Nottingham Forest 4-3, with Alexander Isak scoring twice in a thrilling comeback victory.
