Uganda has been drawn in Group C alongside football powerhouses of Nigeria, Tunisia and the regional rivals Tanzania for the Total Energies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.
The draw for the AFCON 2025 was supervised by CAF Director of Competitions and Events, Samson Adamu on Monday night at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat, Morocco.
The AFCON 2025 will take place in six cities Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech, Fes and Tangier from December 21 to January 18th, 2026.
Uganda will be making a return after their last appearance in AFCON 2019 in Egypt where they reached the round of 16 while Tanzania will be making their uninterrupted appearance after playing at the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
In the same Group Nigeria from the CECAFA Zone are three time champions (1980, 1994, 2013) and Tunisia 2024 champions.
Uganda’s head coach Paul Put said that there are no easy games in Africa but the team has to believe in themselves.
“We are going to face Nigeria who were finalist in the last AFCON and Tunisia is a stable country who is always playing in the quarter finals but we have to believe in ourselves where we have to take this opportunity,” Coach Put said.
