Kampala Police Arrest Over 100 Suspects in Citywide Anti-Crime Operations

The Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) South and East have arrested over 100 suspects in intelligence-led operations across the city and surrounding municipalities, targeting areas known for drug abuse, robbery, and theft.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, KMP’s deputy police spokesperson, the operations on October 28th and 29th yielded significant results across multiple divisions.

“In Kampala Central Division, 40 suspects were rounded up for theft of motor vehicle parts and other street crimes. In Kira Municipality, including Kitukutwe, Kiwologoma, Kungu, Buwate, and Najjera, seven individuals were arrested,” ASP Owoyesigyire said.

Some suspects were found in possession of narcotics and a toy gun believed to have been used in robberies.

Kajjansi Division recorded the highest number of arrests, with 45 suspects apprehended in Ngobe, Sseguku, and Kajjansi over early-morning robbery incidents.

In Mukono, a joint operation in Kyugu and Kisenyi–Degeya led to nine arrests, with suspects found carrying suspected narcotic substances.

All suspects are being held at their respective police stations pending screening and prosecution.
