Kampala, Uganda – Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) Executive Director George William Nyombi Thembo delivered a keynote address at ISBAT University’s 18th graduation ceremony, emphasizing the integration of emerging technologies to keep institutions relevant.
Nyombi Thembo addressed over 700 graduands from disciplines like cybersecurity, alongside delegates from UCAM University, Spain, and university officials.
Themed “Transforming higher education through integration of emerging technologies,” the speech urged universities to evolve into hubs of innovation, knowledge creation, and impact, aligning with Uganda’s digital agenda.
Held on November 12, 2025, marking ISBAT’s highest cybersecurity graduate turnout. At Hotel Africana in Kampala.
To promote digital literacy, inclusivity, and innovation amid rapid technological changes, ensuring education inspires human elements like curiosity and compassion.
Through collaborative efforts with UCC, fostering mentorship and dialogue beyond AI and VR simulations.
Nyombi stated: “Artificial Intelligence can deliver knowledge, but it cannot inspire curiosity. Virtual Reality can simulate empathy, but it cannot feel compassion. The true power of education lies in the human spirit in mentorship, dialogue, and discovery.”
