The Prime Minister of Tooro Kingdom, Omuhikirwa Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire, has called on the Batooro to exercise restraint and self-regulation on social media, warning that internal divisions are undermining the institution they claim to love.
According to Omuhikirwa Rwomiire, the kingdom is at a critical moment that requires reflection on the kind of Tooro and the desires of people.
“You cannot say you love the baby and then throw it away with the dirty water. Right now, we are doing exactly that, dragging the Tooro we claim to love down the drain,” Rwomiire stated.
He reminded the Batooro that their norms and traditions teach dignity, restraint and respect, noting that the concept of Baragirakiki (what will they say) demands discipline and decorum even in difficult times.
“Right now, we are falling short. Tutajuura ekikaali! Let us self-regulate. Share less of what embarrasses the institution. Resist heated narratives. Comment less, listen more, and lower the temperature,” he said.
Omuhikirwa Rwomiire emphasized that the Batooro are not opposing teams but one people, adding that they ought not to sacrifice their culture, values and customs at the altar of social media likes.
“Our disagreements must never become greater than our love for Tooro,” he added.
Omuhikirwa Rwomiire explained that history should remember the current generation not for the noise made, but for the wisdom shown when Tooro needed it most. He called on all subjects to rally behind the new King and unite around the Kujumura Engoma or coronation (Empango) celebrations slated for September 29th, 2026, urging that all energy and goodwill be directed towards making the event a success.
He also urged the public to stop speculating about positions and titles in the Kingdom administration, stating that His Majesty the King will make those decisions in his wisdom and at the appropriate time.
