A tragic crash along the Mpala section of the Kampala–Entebbe Expressway has claimed three lives and left one person injured.

The vehicle, traveling from Masaka towards Entebbe International Airport, reportedly went off the road after the driver fell asleep due to fatigue during the long journey.

In a statement issued on March 16th, 2026, Kampala–Entebbe Expressway management confirmed the incident. They said that a single-vehicle crash occurred along the Mpala section of the expressway due to the mentioned circumstances.

“Tragically, three occupants lost their lives, while one sustained injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital,” the management confirmed.

The Incident Response team, working closely with the police, secured the scene and managed traffic to ensure safety for other motorists.

Expressway officials extended their sympathies to the families of the deceased.

Authorities also reminded motorists that resting fully before long-distance travel, avoiding driving while fatigued, and observing speed limits are key to preventing such accidents.
