According to Centenary, the same incident has been repeated in Gomba East Constituency in the 2026 parliamentary election petition. He said NRM's Dr. Kalule dragged the winner and the Electoral Commission to the High Court in Mpigi, challenging the election of NUP's Godfrey Saazi as duly elected MP for Gomba East on grounds that the Returning Officer of Gomba District failed to add nine polling stations to the total tally. Centenary noted that the Court cited the Kyadondo East precedent.
“The King’s birthday is on December 16th but since it’s a weekday, we decided to have the run on Saturday over the weekend, and we are going to have our birthday run on December 19th, 2026, and the kit will cost as low as UGX 30,000 so that we can accommodate all our people even those with average incomes. We are very hopeful that many will attend and for those who can’t run will be able to walk. Our run will start from the palace (Karuzika) and after we will host all people to a luncheon, ” Nyakaana said.
“At City Hall Court earlier, we checked on our comrades Buwembo Habib, Lubega Obed Reign, and others with whom they were arrested yesterday. Having been heavily assaulted and pepper sprayed, they've been temporarily freed on medical grounds after being referred by City Hall Clinic to Lubaga Hospital for X-ray and other medical examinations. They're of strong spirits. Supporting NUP is not a crime,” RUbongoya said.
The protests were part of a broader movement against corruption, particularly targeting Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, who has faced accusations of corruption practices.
